What started as a pop-up restaurant in Wigan has now grown to become one of Manchester’s finest vegan eateries, the Allotment. They have claimed numerous accolades and have even been named the number 1 vegetarian restaurant in Britain by The Times.

All the food at the Allotment is plant-based and gluten-free, and they offer 3-course menus, as well a 5 and 10-course taster menu. All food is sourced from local, sustainable growers. They aim to bring an entirely new plant-based experience to the table, and produce food that is truly magnificent, tantalizing vegans and non-vegans alike.

At time of writing, their A La Cart vegan menu comprises delicious vegan fare, including starters of maple glazed beetroot and charred peppers. For mains butternut squash falafel, roasted cauliflower and confit aubergine are all on offer. Deserts include ‘cheese’ boards, roasted mouse and chocolate praline.

The Allotment also have a special lunch menu, where customers can enjoy soup of the day, small plates as well as tea or coffee.

Matt Nutter, the head chef has brought a truly dynamic menu to the Allotment and has overcome many challenges. He has learned much through trial and error to make the delicious vegan fare that exists today. One of the biggest challenges he has to face daily is staying focused when tired and finding the work/life balance.

Be sure to visit the Allotment in Manchester for the quintessential vegan dining experience that will leave your mouth watering.
