Welcome to Thought, advocates of contemporary, sustainable style. Established by David and John, two Australians back in 1995, they made their first men’s shirts and beachwear out of sustainable ramie and hemp. In 2002 John left Australia and took the brand to the UK. He opened two pop up shops, one on Portobello road and the other at Camden Lock market.
With countless phone calls, late nights and hard work, a flurry of independent stores and boutiques began socking their growing collection of clothing. By 2005 their started their own website, secured their own office space and even a warehouse. Soon thereafter they managed to expand their team and employ a lady by the name of Rachel who started developing their inventive range further.
Today, Thought have collections in over 1,000 shops worldwide and are massively proud of what they have achieved. They are still a small but have grown to employ over 20+ people working in North London.
Everything at Thought is ethically sourced and produced, and they constantly strive to minimise their global, environmental impact. Their fabrics are made from naturally grown bamboo, cotton, wool and hemp. These are all free from chemicals and pesticides and are often stronger, softer and more durable than other fabrics. They have recently added two new fabrics, tencel and modal which are both sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Be sure to visit their website and browse their fantastic range of men and women’s fashion, sustainable socks, accessories and gifts.
Thought, be part of a thoughtful world.
